Lifting of section of plasteron small pitting split

Thank you so much! I had one of those rotary dog nail grinders & took the guard off. I get my nails done, I always have to remind them not to press hard or stay too long in an area cause it can really heat up & hurt. I've just been working a little at a time & she's so happy to race to the food...

Lifting of section of plasteron small pitting split

So I'm having a problem finding which dremel attachment to use. I used the tool I use for dog claws, at the slow speed. I used it on my self 1st. I put on the message board what the vet said. I just didn't think I could get it cleaned like they said & I couldn't get any ointment on it. I...

Lifting of section of plasteron small pitting split

The vet flushed it & doesn't like that the flushing comes out the bottom edge & the hole. I drew where the flushing was coming out. She said it's still hard, not squishy. She was going to discuss with one of their other vets to see if it needs debriding. She gave me a flexible catheter (I'd...

Lifting of section of plasteron small pitting split

Some of the uneven areas in the middle toward the back have been there before I got her, but hasn't gotten worse.

Lifting of section of plasteron small pitting split

Yes I have a dremel. I'm a seamstress so steady hands but she's a squirming one. There's an exotic vet not as far as my original vet (2 hr 1 way drive, which I would do & trust them completely). The vet nearby has good reviews. I think this is above my comfort ability not seeing it for the 1st...

Lifting of section of plasteron small pitting split

That makes sense. We rebuilt their protected habitat (3 partitions) & due to subterranean termites we put pavers along the outside walls then put then built up from there. During the rains it got wet & I saw the 3rd one up on a paver. That I know didn't have substrate close to the edge with all...

Lifting of section of plasteron small pitting split

We have had a very wet month plus. My Russians were outside came out to eat & get some sun but been spending a portion of their day in their houses in dry coco coir. They are eating good, poo is normal, very active. But I'm concerned about this one. They are shiny as I wiped them off with...

Fire ant attacked 4 yr leopard tortoise

Happy New Year, Yall! I wanted to drop a note that Half Pint seems to be completely back to herself. I'm keeping up with lots of warm soaks. I'm making sure she doesn't get bit again! Since they don't have access under my shed I'm spraying stock guard (permethrin, no runoff to get on grass)...

Fire ant attacked 4 yr leopard tortoise

Here's a picture of halfpint. She's such a fighter, with attitude she didn't want her picture taken & peed on me. She definitely needs 2 very long soaks every day! I can tell the difference come time for her afternoon soak.

I'll keep soaking her a long time every day. Make sure she doesn't get bit forever would be hopeful but I know it takes so long to get rid of the venom so any bite in the near future will be bad. It's the best things to hear alert after alerts all day & watching her walk around!

Fire ant attacked 4 yr leopard tortoise

I wanted to give an update. Halfpint seems so much better. I had started wiping Manuka Honey on her. She must have liked it because she stretched out for me to rub her & scratch her head. After a very long soak with some pedialyte, she dirtied her water, she loves mazuri, rose petals, cactus...

Fire ant attacked 4 yr leopard tortoise

Thank you Tom. That is good to know! I'm trying not to bother her too much, but doing a lot of long warm soaks. But she is opening 1 eye now & wanted a head scratch. Hopefully tomorrow she will eat some mazuri or something on her dish & get the other end going.

Will do cause I read a lot from previous posts about fire ants to kill them, but didn't find much on recovery.
