    My new Manouria emys emys

Welcome to the club, you picked up some nice cuties there! Just the way they move, act and look with that pulsating throat screams ancient - love manouria.

    Phae and Darth

Beautiful pair! Looks like Phae had you pinned down in the first pic, did she go for a taste or are they well behaved?

    George and Martha

They were yearlings when I got them. The scutes were not raised. The small % of their diet that isn't greens/sweet potatoes is pretty random. I've offered and seen them consume pumpkin, watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, grapes(leaves and fruit), tomato, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach...

    George and Martha

Can you link me threads/pictures of the conical spurs? I water my tortoises every day it doesn't rain. When I go to water the elephant ears(growing next to enclosure) the torts get a good soaking too. On hotter days I often leave the hose in the enclosure for 10-15 minutes, which floods it...

    George and Martha

Thanks you two. The leaves are some type of elephant ear(colocasia) that I've planted around the enclosure. During the growing months they get as many as the plants can spare. This equates about 1 meal a week but I'm hoping to let them eat more alocasia/colocasia as I get more plants established.

    George and Martha

I've had these two almost a decade now and love them to death - just thought I'd share a bit. Martha is the bigger one at ~17 inches, George is ~11 inches. When they were 2 years old or so we had some heavy rains and George escaped due to some washout on the side of their old enclosure. I...

    Amazon Basin Yellow Foot Tortoise

I remember seeing some ads popping up for these a while back and being skeptical(some of them claimed they got up to 30+ inches).. Mostly it was young torts being offered but occasionally I'd seen animals that were larger but not out of the size range of the normal yellow foots(15-16 inches). I...

    Need advice on Box Turtles

I have a lot of fire ants as well and watering the plants/enclosure every day does a good job of keeping them out for me.

Congratulations to our 2011 Tortoise Calendar Contest WINNERS!

Congratulations to everyone, the pictures were all great and choosing just a handful was indeed difficult.

Third Annual Calendar Photo Contest VOTING Thread!

It was an open contest and I rather enjoyed having so many pictures from which to choose. I'm a new member myself, though I joined a bit before the contest, so maybe that's why it doesn't bother me. I know 1 thing, by the time I got halfway through the pictures I had used all my votes and had...
