Hallo All!
I've got a behavior question. Our sweet little Tortini has started running to me when she sees me and tries to bite me. Admittedly hilarious at first, because she was bad at it, then she landed on and it HURT!
Ok so back story. Tini has always been sassy. If she hasn't been fed...
Ok cool, thanks! Ya when the plants are looking sad, I just pull them out and move them to my plant shelf to recover. I leave them in their pots to make it easier.
Thanks!
Hi again! So we're finished-ish with the new tort house! I'll take out the black house in the corner and move the purple house back, but at present my daughter insisted it stay, and I don't win that many "discussions" with 6 y/olds lol. My last question is the UV light. Right now we've got it...
Thanks guys! We're in the process of measuring temp and humidity before she moves in to see exactly what we'll need to do. I'm thinking that the UV we've got now will work, it's 19" long. During the summer we get her outside, but definitely not now (10°F) today. She's actually got her own space...
Hi all! It's been a hot minute since I posted last! Our little Tortini is getting close to 2 (wow!) and she's getting a new house! Right now I'm sorting out lightning. About half her new house will be covered by a greenhouse (trying to control humidity in CO = super fun!). I'll hang basking...
Also I've read that summer squash, cucumber, and pumpkin flowers are safe for other species, ok for Hermann's too? I'm growing those (along with strawberries, raddish, carrot, tomato, dill, basil, and peppers). I'm thinking I might try to dehydrate some leaves/flowers and store for the winter. I...
We got our cutie a week ago Tuesday, a well starting hatchling. She seems to be doing great, eating, hiding, basking, etc. But wow she sleeps late! She's usually put herself up by 7-8p and isn't up until 10-11a the next day? I've read on here that's pretty common for the babies, just looking for...
Tortini is settling in beautifully! We went with this enclosure to help with humidity while she's a babe. When she's bigger we'll have a big custom table built. Thank you everyone for the tips! I'll definitely keep asking questions lol.
Tortini is home!! Arrived perfectly from TortStork yesterday! We're definitely enjoying watching beer settle in, hoping we give her the best home possible!
Thanks!! That's what I'd read about the pellet food as well. I'm going to set up a grow table and see what all we can grow ourselves. Thanks for the tip on the ZooMed pellets, I'll definitely grab those too. I just remember how helpful the chinchilla forums were lol, I was super glad to find...
These work in your opinion? I'd mix them (not sure why I've got the idea of mixing in my head), or not if not necessary. I've been reading so much that it's getting hard to keep straight lol
Edit to add pic
I'm ready to be lambasted lol. I know there are opinions on everything. The care sheets here say organic soil, other people say no-no. I just want a substrate good for tort that she can burrow in, that will help with humidity that I can keep clean and afford. Nothing has been bought yet, fyi, so...
