I am a first time reptile/RussianTortoise owner so I am learning as I go. My Russian Tortoise name is Koopa and I rescued him about 4months ago from a shelter who told me they believe he was around 2yrs old. The shelter gave me the enclosure he resides in at the moment but I'm not sure if it's big enough for him or if the lighting I have is adequate {1-uvb light & 1 heat lamp}? There are a few concerns I have with his overall health that I'm not sure if normal or a concern. 1.His shell had these white spots/chips on spots when I got him that didn't look normal but the vet at shelter wasn't that knowledgeable on tortoises and said it was old wounds that healed?
2. He ate and begged for food and was quite active for the 1st month that I had him but now he barely eats and sleeps all day in the same spot?
3. I noticed he has trouble pooping at times almost like he is constipated and I can hear him wheezing throughout the day?
I took him to an emergency vet who have him 2 shots for hydration and a shot of antibiotics that I had to take him back every 2 days for 2weeks which he seemed back to his old self eating and moving but the last week he is right back where he was. I have an appointment with reptile vet specialist cuz I'm concerned he may have something serious going on.
