UVB/UVA help with new indoor enclosure

Thanks Tom! We typically use the tin foil method or other means to keep in any heat and humidity. He weighs about three pounds, I’m not sure length or height. This enclosure is 72x24 I believe. I’m concerned about the mounting height in this enclosure for the UV, I think we can manage our other...

UVB/UVA help with new indoor enclosure

Hi all! We just got a new indoor enclosure for our adult leopard tortoise for night time/winter. He does have an outdoor enclosure to get some sun but preparing for NC winters. This enclosure has a mesh top which I have read can block bulbs. There seems to be room for a rod bulb but I have not...

Outdoor enclosure temperature and humidity help for leopard

Very interesting! He is one to not eat a lot of grass or hay so we are working on that. Tends to have a lot of activity in the warmer time of year and is liking his time outdoors. Today he has been hiding more maybe related to the heat advisory we are in. We will keep exposing him and see how he...

Hi all! I have a five year old leopard tortoise that we are starting to move outdoors. I live in NC on the coast. Now that summer is here, temperatures and humidity are up (90s with humidity 60-90%). I am just confirming these conditions will be okay with plenty of shade and hideaway spots...

    Flipped Leopard

We are good on uvb. No coils or any of that. I’ve don’t extensive research on all that and with the help of some people on here. I’ve had the same lamps for over a year so far no troubles.

    Flipped Leopard

Yep I think it is definitely time to upgrade on space. I’ll still keep a close watch and make sure nothing goes wrong in the mean time. Thank you everyone for the help! Quite a stressful thing to come home to.

    Flipped Leopard

Where I found him was to the right of the hide which has no slope and a large opening to go in. Food bowl was not close by the be the culprit either.

    Flipped Leopard

I was scared to give any food in case bowels were affected like I’ve read. He drank some of the water and continued on. Even to this day. He has a fascination with climbing on the sides of his tank even though they are blocked where there is no view out. The only thing I can think to do is add...

    Flipped Leopard

Hello! I just came home to my year old leopard on their side. Could they put up a fight to flip back and I believe urinated. They were not under the basking lamp but somewhat close to it. I got them corrected and immediately soaked. No signs of trouble breathing or lethargic. Walking around and...

    UVB Help!

I believe i should put a disclaimer that maybe the picture posted may make him look bigger than what he is...which is why a 40 gallon tank does not sound ideal. But he will soon have a much bigger set up when we move next year!:)
