I use a coconut mulch, recommended by the woman who gave me my Greek Tortoise.
Anyone have suggestions of less expensive, or better ground cover?
Also, San Francisco sits at about 50% humidity, so i try to keep her as dry as possible in her habitat.

Your indoor enclosure has inspired us! We will custom a long, wooden box and add a ramp and balcony for more roaming room. I'll get the teenaged boys next door to help with the project. We'll post details when done.

It's beautiful, really, but too small.
My tortoise (her name is Mango) lives in a 3 X 3 box right now. I need taller sides, and a longer enclosure, but slightly thinner so I can reach it better. I live in a small place in SF and cannot commit a whole bedroom to her, nor can she live...
Our house is cold, and so the heat bulb stays on. However, turning the UVB bulb off at night lowers the habitat temp some.
Is it right that night time for a Greek can be 65?
Also, I need UV bulb clarification. I use ceramic base with a lamp. I heard the bult has to point straight down...
I have a Greek Tortoise.
I'm guessing that her warmest spot in her habitat should be high 80's, with a cooler section in the low 70's. I never turn her heat lamp off. It goes on when the temp dips. San Francisco gets cold at night and I don't think her enclosure should ever dip lower than 70...
My 7 year old Greek Tortoise needs a habitat. I'm using a bookshelf on it's back, but the sides aren't tall enough. I could recycle the wood. My problem is I am not handy, so if anyone is in SF and willing to help me build the ideal enclosure, I'd appreciate it!
