Petey Petunia the Mojave Desert Tortoise
Pete was probably born around September 2023, and she entered into my life in October 2023. She (possibly a he, but anatomy tentatively points to female but really who cares? ).
Petey was very likely kidnapped from the wild, which is unfortunate and illegal. However she wasn’t looking so for when I acquired her, so I’m okay with it now. I acquired her from some meth heads who didn’t know how to care for her and so they called the only biologist they could think of (me). I didn’t plan on taking her, but I saw the situation and she had to come with me. My husband was surprised. He has since become her number one fan (her and I are pure love so I don’t count). She was in rough shape, I didn’t realize until recently looking through old photos just how close she was to perishing. It’s the folks in here that taught me and helped me through my anxiety freak out questions. Now ‘tun is healthy and content, at least according to her slight head tilts behind that stoic mysterious resting ***** face.
