    New enclosure going up

Progress has been slow because I’m working an incredibly low paying job right now but here’s an updated picture and a small summary of what’s been added. New large water saucer, portable greenhouse so she can get the most out of warmth on cooler days (only paid $18 for it), burrow made with a...

    New enclosure going up

It's still very bare bones but after finishing the perimeter we've moved her in and she seems to like it very much. Admittedly she needed this upgrade many moons ago so I wanted her in there ASAP. Today I will be putting in some shrubs and other landscaping. Starting with 2 Hibiscus, a local...

    Humidity question

When I realized I had this problem I went out and bought some sort of vinyl, similar to plexiglass. Cut into 2 roughly equal peices - duct tape made a perfectly functional temporary hinge. On one half I made a "window" with hardware cloth for heat lamps to sit and to top it all off a 12 x 12...

    Tortimus Prime (Sulcata) turned 3

Yes! I couldn’t be more pleased with how her coloration and shell is currently. I know it may change some over time but I’m sure she’ll still be gorgeous!

    Tortimus Prime (Sulcata) turned 3

I think she might be a small for her age. She is about 14 pounds and about 15 inches long. She didn’t grow for about 6 months when I first got her (she started growing much better after I heeded the advice I got here).

    Tortimus Prime (Sulcata) turned 3

Just wanted to thank everyone here who gave me advice when Tortimus was a hatchling. I don’t think she would be alive if I’d followed the reading I’d found elsewhere or the care sheet included when she was shipped to me. Pictures attached of my beautiful dinosaur.

Hello from me and my baby Sulcata

2020 update on my girl Still thriving, with a smooth shell and a gorgeous golden, toasty color. Here she is (literally) weighing in at 5.4 pounds. She doesn't like the scale so a good picture was hard!

Hello from me and my baby Sulcata

2019 Update on Tortimus Prime. The news is that she (we believe it's a girl) is doing awesome. I'm trying to post some great growth pictures. We'll see if I get them to come through correctly. (We ONLY put her in that bowl for the picture, we'd never cramp her up like that otherwise)

Hello from me and my baby Sulcata

Update on Tortimus Prime: Today, Tortimus is a much different little guy, tipping the scales at 130 grams now. Still extremely small for his age but growing everyday (usually up 5-10 grams per week now). Attached lots of pictures including very first picture! All of they others are from today .

Weird "spots" on baby Sulcata's scutes

That really makes sense. We went to the vet because he wasn't growing much at all. He had to get dewormed and some extra nutritional support. Since then it's pretty much just a continuous growth spurt.

Weird "spots" on baby Sulcata's scutes

Thanks so much for the reply! I had searched all over the forum for "sulcata shell spots" but couldn't find anything. I guess I needed to be less specific!

Weird "spots" on baby Sulcata's scutes

(I posted this in the Sulcata section but thought later that it may be more appropriate here) So my little guy has some weird spots that just popped up on his scutes, it seems to be on all of them. I'm attaching the best picture I could get. You can see them best on the middle scutes. One of...

Weird "spots" on baby Sulcata's scutes

So my little guy has some weird spots that just popped up on his scutes, it seems to be on all of them. I'm attaching the best picture I could get. Any ideas? I've tried brushing at them gently with a toothbrush but it makes no difference. They are not on the surface seems like they are under...
