    Sick with pneumonia

When they say blended greens, how are you giving this to Bob... In the past when our little mikey wasnt eating, i read in these very forums about food baths... Basically blend all the food and use that as his bath.. Add some water, but try and have a higher percentage of "food" in the bath than...

    New Russian Tort not eating

Time for a weeks worth of food baths.. Get a pile of food he can eat, dandelions etc, and blitz them in a food processor with a little water... You can add the result to his baths everyday. It should help jump start his appetite.

Mikey ate a stone.. Behaviour changed... Anyone else had this?

Hi everyone.. A couple of months ago, whilst playing out, Mikey, our russian horsefield, decided his wide selection of weeds and salad wasnt enough, and took it upon himself to eat stone. We do sprinkle his food with calcium powder and nutrobal. After the initial worry and panic, I discovered...

    Worried about inactive Russian.

Hi there.. Can i say, i know how youre feeling.. Our russian too changed his behaviour. Hed be waiting for us each morning and enjoyed basking.. Now he sleeps a lot, after being encouraged to get up. Personally, i dont think youre doing any harm getting your tortoise up each day, but leaving...

    Russain Tortoise eye problem

Given that you say he's new, are you also new to keeping him (I'm guessing yes, given the amount of other information you've not included) Look really closely at him, is there any colour there (specifically red?). Blood round his eyes maybe (like something's got in there) Is he either rubbing...

    Hasn't eaten properly in weeks!!

Thanks all.. Ok, we've had him about five months, and he's only ever lived in the same room, we take him out of his box and he regularly goes exploring the room, so nothing has changed in that respect.. The thermometer in his box usually reads around 29-30 Celsius after its warmed up, the...

    Hasn't eaten properly in weeks!!

Our little Russian tortoise, Mikey hasn't eaten in nearly 3 weeks. We got him in June and he's always had a decent appetite, we give him a variety of purchased foods, and also bits from the garden (dandelion, strawberry and raspberry leaves) He went through a phase a few weeks ago of spending...

    Head Scratches

Our little tortoise Mikey loves this too.. Tho when it suits him. Sometimes he'll be chilling under his lamp head right out and content, I lean in and scratch his neck and he lifts his head in my general direction in a "ooh yeah, just there" kind of way. :-)
