I only have the mat turned on in the morning for a couple of hours when the ambient temps are around 75 degrees. I guess I’m confused because other threads have said the Kane mats are designed in a way that can’t burn the tortoise, and to use a thermostat to monitor the temps.

The thermostat is Zilla and placed on the wall of the enclosure about 6 inches above the Kane mat so it’s measuring ambient temp. .

Night time temps are around 60f (California) so not very cold. Do I need both RHP and Kane mat for these temps? I’ve been using only the RHP over the past month and it’s kept the ambient temp in the night box between 77-82. Not sure if the fluctuation in temp is okay though.
