    Brumation/burrow questions

Thank you again! We have a massive mesquite that gives a ton of shade from about 10a to 2p and then has a gap in the branches from about 2p to 3p so I was going to go to one of our native nurseries and get a bush that is tortoise friendly and more grass that he can munch on toward the bottom...

    Brumation/burrow questions

Thank you so much! Our exotic vet told me that he was fine to brumate in the burrow I made and to just check on him at least once a month. She made it sound like I had no issues and it seemed wrong to me (we took him for check up prior to brumation and follow up on his now healed injury to his...

    Brumation/burrow questions

Hello everyone! Thank you for being so awesome and having a place like this to ask questions, share, and bounce ideas off each other. I have a couple questions. Burrow bedding question

    Burrow bedding question

Thank you! Do I have to worry about either those picking up too much moisture during monsoon season here in Tucson, Arizona? If so, would shoveling it out and replacing with new every so often during monsoon season suffice?

    Burrow bedding question

Finally redid my sonoran desert tortoise's burrow using the cinder block option. I need to add more dirt inside but the dirt in my yard is super rocky and has gravel. I was wondering if I could fill it with orchid bark or coco noir instead or if the rocky soil is fine? Thank you so much!

    Help with burrow building please.

Thank you! That's what I was afraid of... Even if I bury the bottom third under ground it would heat up the dirt around it because of the plastic right?

    Help with burrow building please.

More info: He is about 20yo, so adult DT. I have to take him inside at night because I'm caring for a shell injury and this was the veterinarian's instruction.

    Help with burrow building please.

Hello! I was wondering if I could get help on the burrow I made for our desert tortoise in Tucson, AZ. For a while, it was maintaining 86-89°F and now gets up to 93°F (air temps). Should I dig deeper? Or what? And if I dig deeper how do I prevent flooding from monsoon rains? My DT won't dig...
