Yeah I've also used reptile maniacs. And this halogen heat lamp I've had now is going on like 6 months I think. Though it is much more expensive than the one you linked. But if this one lasts very long, it would be worth it of course. Would be really nice if it would be ok to use these. I...
I put two of the biggest stone slabs I have under the lamp, let them warm up, and measured with my IR temp gun. I'm getting like a about a 25 x 25cm area of ~35C. I don't have a spot halogen lamp, I have this one: Arcadia - PAR30. It's a flood lamp, marketed as providing a good temp over a wide...
Nope, I actually have the stand I sent a picture of a few messages ago. And yeah, the clamp seemed useless/bad when I saw it in the box/tested it.
I'm not home right now to check, but I guess so. It's the one that's sold with 14cm in its name.
Omg. Seems I can't do anything right. Is this for sure really a problem when I have it almost 60cm up from the substrate level and I measure with temperature sensors that the temp is ok?
At first I had non-halogen lamps, but I had huge problems with multiple of them burning out within a few...
I guess one of these would be ideal, if someone just sold one wide enough for the LumenIZE.
Just hang it off that with two chains. I can't seem to one that's wide enough though.
I have the heat lamp 57cm above basking spot, and it is dimmed down a lot as well to make the temperature ~35C. I'm using Arcadia 75W Halogen Heat Lamps.
I guess I could buy way lower wattage heat lamps and move it closer, but I don't really see the reason (price difference is minimal as...
Hi,
I have a little ~9 month old russian tortoise.
Of course I've had a UVB lamp and heat lamp setup from the start. Temperature is easy to measure, but I've been worried about the UVB, since you can't really know if it's too little or too much or what (and I can't justify dropping 400€ on a...
I think so. At least today I gave him another bath, and he also pooped during the bath.
Also, overall, today I haven't noticed the funny walking at all. I also took him for a little roam around the sofa again to see if he would do it again and this time only normal walking on the sofa, floor...
So I was giving my 4 month old baby russian tortoise some soaking time and let him wander around on the floor/sofa afterwards.
I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. The walking was a bit funny, sometimes he was like "missing the ground" with his back left leg, kicking towards the sky...
Yeah I don't know about the arcing, maybe I made it up while trying to make sense of this.
And yes, I did save the video. I cropped this and the quality turned bad somewhere along the way, but you can see what happens to the light. Video starts a bit before the first change in brighness...
As an update:
I spoke at length with my retailer, conclusion is pretty much that something has caused the voltage to fluctuate which kills these bulbs super quick. Either bad contact with the bulb and fixture socket, or something else along the wiring. The retailer is very hesitant to suspect...
Honestly, I don't see how it would be the smart plug. It's the same one I've used for other things for years and years. But well, of course I can't say for sure.
But sure, I tried some random ceiling bulbs and they seem fine. But also, they're not even close to as high power as the heat lamps...
