my greek tort has a very weak beak, he can eat soft/thin leaves, but he struggles with anything else, like thyme or cactus or even a slice of cucumber! what should I do?

are dates safe to feed tortis? (not primarily ofcourse, but as an occasional treat) it has a lot of nutrients that's why I was wondering if it's suitable
