Whenever I reach for my tortoise, he retracts, as soon as I pick him up, out his head comes...also have read that holding him a bit upside down will get his head put...... sounds like you need more hands for giving meds..

To be honest, it's what was on sale...turned out that I somehow broke the lamp as well as the bulb. So I also bought a brooding light, and had to re-position the heat lamp higher than its original height.So far the 125 watt light is keeping the enclosure at 83°.
Hi all, I broke my heat lamp bulb. My local home improvement store has 125watt bulbs for $0.84, is there any reason I need to buy one from the reptile shop for more money? I can get 12 bulbs for the cost of one.

Daily enclosure, I'll take him in after a few hours...never overnight, etc. Depending on time of day, the enclosure will be big enough to have 70-80%sun.
Hi Tom, outdoors, in the grass under some shade trees, movable, open top with chicken wire for extra hawk security, with a hide in the corner..for my Herrmans..lil guy bout 6" at the moment...
