Could this just be the damage from not having UVB for 10 years? It seems to be peeling more now
The shell is like peeling off. My boyfriend has had this turtle for 10 years and I just bought it it's first UVB light and a 40 gal tank (it's been in a 20 long all it's life) a month ago thinking her condition would improve but she looks worse.
So we cleared about 60% of the pond out. The green stalks we cut down and removed are tall grass with yellow and purple flowers, can't remember what they are called.

Not true at all, it's very hard to breed hermit crabs only a handful of experienced owners have done it. What you find in pet stores are all wild caught, some are ripped out of their shells and forced into painted shells.
