Uh oh, i never thought about that.. my parents might not be to thrilled about taking him to a vet so do you think i could do research on symptoms and if some of those match i would take him but i think a trip might make then second guess letting me adopt him if it ends up not being a problem...
Hello, cheese is a 20ish year old tortoise i got less than a year ago, and he has been having “stringed poop” i dont really know how to describe it but he was just dragging it along by a string of… i have no clue it looked like thread or something(he has not eaten thread) and another chunk was...
I got a russian tort a few months ago and the person who had him said he was male(he probably is i just cannot really tell based on the other forums) could someone tell me if its a male or female? Also sorry about my bad photographing skills haha. Im dont really care either way, i love em, but...
I dont feel very confident brumating him, so i think i will just use the pond liner idea, it seems safer. Also he has never been brumated before so i feel like it would be stressful for him as well as me. Thanks for the explanation though, i might look into it for the future winters.
Its a 5x5 wood enclosure thats one foot tall(i said in a diff thread it was 6x6 but realized my tape measure was very off), what pond liner should i use? Is it expensive? I will have to buy more substrate to cover the bottom bc right now i only have half of a bag. I dont think i would be willing...

Okay, i have some chicken wire i can put over the top, thank you guys for the advice, i didnt even think about raccoons or possums. I usually bring him inside at night so im not super worried about rodents, however i am still going to be adding a lid. Thanks again :)
so i am guessing this is a completely irrational worry, but is there any chance a large bird might think my russian tortoise looks tasty and try to snatch him? i am debating on putting a "lid" on his outdoor enclosure. he has the caps on the corners but those dont have much security. is it worth...
okay so put him in a bath for 15 minutes(he tried to escape the entire time) and i will spritz his food tommorow. he has a water dish in his nighttime cage and outdoor/indoor home(i move him inside/outside depending on temp). how long should it take before i start seeing a change? also i will...
my twenty year old tortoise i recently got from a friend has been peeing... excessively. and every time he pees there is white chunks in it. im worried he is stressed or something or is this normal?
