I made a gel, no fresh foods, so for the inevitable zombie apocalypse we are covered. LOL

Thanks, Yvonne ! I enjoyed doing it, and my redfoots seemed to enjoy it either way. I have one jelly left in the fridge, checking it daily to see how long it will keep. Wondering if you had a supply on hand but wanted to make a surplus of jellies (like if you have limited fuel to heat the...

The great afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, who plays drums on the track I used for this video, died yesterday while I was busy fitting everything together. May he rest easy.

Sorry about the problem viewing, I've fixed it. This is the first time I've shared a video on any public place, so it's a good learning experience. I'm not interested in any prize, this was just for the fun of doing it.

At the finish line, at the deadline.... (ok, so I now know about a few typos. I'll get a fresh version uploaded with corrections soon. In the meanwhile, you guys can assume I already know what I screwed up. @Kapidolo Farms Thank you for this project, Will! I learned that my...

Got my goodie package today, it all smells great! I'm a little impatient, so I took a few snaps and mixed it up, it's in the fridge right now and will be tortoise lunch tomorrow. I will probably run the stills into a text box for the 'how to' part, then video the little buggers chowing down...

    Crap...look

We have pawpaw here too. If you think Redfoots love banana, you should see them with a pawpaw! I haven't found the Osage Orange fruits to repel anything, though fresh ones have a strong (medicinal but sweet) smell. I'd be curious to hear about whether the branches work for you.

    Crap...look

I have Osage Oranges. I bring them in every fall, just to look at them. They dry out in the bowls and I usually toss them in the spring when I have nicer things to fill those bowls. I can brush the cobwebs off the current season's dried hedge apples and send them to you. Fresh ones can't be had...

    Crap...look

Automatictrap.com Should be able to use these, you can place them where tortoise can't reach. I don't think a tortoise with a head small enough to get in would have a neck long enough to set it off.

    I don't know what happened...

There are no words, but many of us understand how you feel. Sometimes life just stinks. Sending positive vibrations and thought of comfort and peace.

To eat meat or not to eat meat, that is the question

I would caution anyone to freeze seafood and thaw before feeding, especially salmon and tuna. There are often parasitic worms in the meat that can take up residence in humans and probably in any other animal too. if you buy previously frozen or already frozen it's ok.

    food lack of .

I'm glad outdoor weeds have really started growing fast here in WV. I am able to forage for my redfoot tortoises again and don't have to worry about finding appropriate foods at the grocery or farmers' market. I don't have sulcata, so I don't know if you can do the same, but grass is growing...

    Problems with hawks

About vultures... We have Turkey and Black vultures, and it is not uncommon for them to attack newborn or very young calves and lambs. They go after the soft places like eyes, navel and anus. I never saw this behavior before I lived in WV, but here it's fairly common. I've seen cows exhausted...
