I picked up this tortoise on Highway 33 as I noticed it crossing highway. Fortunately there was little traffic so I pulled over and grabbed it. Took it to a local vet who identified it as a male Russian Tortoise.

He is a voracious eater and he is appearing healthier than when we originally found him.

Yes, the area I found him was a few miles from homes. I have been keeping an eye out on Craigslist though.

We just plant petunias. They are inexpensive right now.

Thank you for the feedback. We will look for restlessness, but so far he seems to be happy as a clam.

Hopefully they don’t ordinarily travel those great distances on highways! I’m pretty sure his new enclosure is quite secure.
