Yea I think a high quality wet cat food is okay if they eat it. Have you tried shrimp? Mine loves boiled shrimp, she gets most of her protein from cat food she finds on the floor lol and she's thriving.
My redfoot did this around the age of 4 as well! I think it's a mix of spring weather and hormones maybe? It's like they hit a crazy age. She's stopped doing it now so just try to keep an eye on her and flip her as soon as you can if she's on her back.
My Scout is a crazy climber! She can get on top of anything she wants to.. I have since changed her enclosure to a fully enclosed one because she managed to get on top of the metal screen and almost fell onto the floor.
Oh really? Mine loves it! She's weird though she'll eat anything. I just like to have it on hand in case I run out of fresh food. Definitely not necessary though if you plan ahead lol.
Hey guys, I came across a tortoise today that looked to be in bad shape. It was in a clothing store and appears to be the owners of the stores pet. The owner said that it was a Russian tortoise but I'm pretty sure it's a redfoot and corrected him on this. The tortoises beak was very over grown...
First of all, thank you so much for rescuing that little guy.
I use more of a dirt type substrate for my Red Foot, it seems to hold in humidity really well, I think its called jungle earth or coco fibre works well too. They also like to dig and cover themselves in the substrate so dirt might be...
Yea I'll have to make a border so she can't get to the walls I guess. I think shes at a good temp based on what I've been told/researched. It's about 75+ on her cool side and 85+ on her warm side during the day. Humidity is 85+ she has a heat rock that she can sit on too but she doesn't go on it...
Hey guys, my red foot tortoise has been climbing the walls of her enclosure and getting herself flipped onto her back. Today when I came home she was flipped and not struggling anymore which worried me because usually shes fighting to get flipped back over. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips...
The pyramiding is from her previous owner. The new growth is flattening out. I did get a shower curtain to put over it and the humidity and heat is waaaay better and she's doing great and eating so much so thank you guys
