Change in behaviour in our girl

I'm feeling so much better. I reached out to our local reptile shop and they put me in touch with a redfoot breeder who has been giving me some excellent advice. As for now, Pao enjoyed her long soak, pooped a bunch, and is now vigorously enjoying her lunch. I'll be making some adjustments to...

Change in behaviour in our girl

Thank you! I'll reach out and see if I can find a reptile vet near us. We moved a couple months ago and are just getting settled.

Change in behaviour in our girl

Thank you! We're in a warm bath and she is making like deep clucking noises I've never heard her do before.

Change in behaviour in our girl

Morning update! No sign of eggs but she continues to lurk in her burrow with eyes of death. I flipped her over and she's not letting me check her cloaca (I mean, would you?). However, her fleshy bits on either side are very hard, like I can tap on them without resistence - I'm really starting to...

Change in behaviour in our girl

That looks gorgeous! Mojo doesn't try to eat the fake plants? That's always been my worry about using them in her enclosure. And of course she murders all live plants within hours.

Thanks for the enclosure advice. Could that be causing her current sudden change in behavior?

Change in behaviour in our girl

For sure! It's an 8 ft x 2 ft PVC enclosure, 4 ft UVB fixture on the warm side along with a water fountain. Ambient temps are 82F with 72% humidity. Her burrow is pretty much right in the centre of the enclosure. Substrate is straight cyrpress mulch, I get it in bulk from the local reptile...

Change in behaviour in our girl

Hello friends! I think I might know the answer to this, but it's the first time it would have happened to us, so . . . Pao is around 12 years old. She's kept indoors, pretty well if I do say so myself. The last week or so she's been acting differently. She's been pacing her enclosure but waaaay...

Help! Small white bugs (aphids?) everywhere

Thanks for the reassurance! I won't completely destroy the little buggers, but I was very concerned when they were on her shell and in her eyes. I did see some of the larger springtails when I was doing some clean-up and I was like "Oh, yes, I know these things." It was the sentient specks of...

Help! Small white bugs (aphids?) everywhere

Hi friends, Search function appears to be wonky so I'm sorry if this is a FAQ. Our redfoot is in a PVC enclosure with a dirt, coco coir, and forest floor substrate. Her temps and humidity are all in range. But a few weeks ago I bought a couple small plants for her to destroy. I washed them...

    Runt of the litter?

Argh I was told to feed everything but lettuce sparingly. I'll make some changes immediately, I feel like a terrible father. What do you recommend for protein? I will sometimes give her an egg, I'm thinking maybe some shredded chicken. Leftover rats? We don't keep a lot of meat for humans in...

    Runt of the litter?

Hi friends, it's been a while since I've posted here but gearing up for a vet visit in a couple months and I thought I'd see if anyone has some input. Our redfoot Pao is at least eight years old - maybe nine - we're not quite sure. She's only 7" long and weighs about a kilo. She's been about...

    The first foray

We don't have lights or heaters in place yet, but we thought we would let her ramble around for a few hours on a warm day. We also put in the humidifer. The scotch moss is not doing so hot, it might have to go as well. This is three weeks after planting, the grass has taken really well.
