So I took him to a vet and they think he will be able to kick whatever he has by himself and recommended I up his temp in his house 24/7 from 86 to closer to 96 and to bring the hu humidity down to as low as possible. I'm okay with the temp but I'm not sure about lowering the humidity especially...
Thank you Tom for the helpful reply as always, do you have any suggestions on how I can get him past the wheezing. Its been there for a few weeks but seems worse the last couple of days. Should I just give him more or longer baths for a while or any other suggestions. I will say it does not seem...
I heated the water up to hand warm before and it was on the sun the wheezing has been going on for a while I made an apt to have him looked at in 2 days. It’s amazing the lead time he has an ikea storage bucket of water on a shelf that gets the humid up to 50 when the house is closed up at night.
He stays in his house a fair amount of the time where he is 85 min and warmer when the sun hits with a giant overhead radiant and a kane matt underneight so he usually goes out for a little while at a time when the sun is warm and then goes into his house to warm up and sit in the sunny entrance...
My Sulcuta seems to be wheezing he had a 20 min soak and his humidity is about 40% at night in his night box. https://ring.com/share/b1b363c0-1852-48fd-b093-5763ad115895
And happily sleeping in his corner it's hard to see but he has plenty of room in his corner before the matt probably another 18" or so and then his suntanning spot in the morning light while staying inside till it warms up in front of the floor to ceiling window :) So he has three zones to play...
I will say on the test night last night it got to 42 outside and his Tom inspired box just using the overhead heat pad kept it at a perfect 86 degrees (and this is before i add the door) I got him when he was 3 years old and already living outdoors for a year or two. His old house was about...
He is only about 8" right now and its only his sleeping house he has a yard to wander around in. If I put the kane in the corner he is likely to want to sleep on it all night.
So far when I use a piece of MDF the temp was much closer to 100, I have a giant rock on it right now testing so it may very well be a stuffed animal was a bad choice to test. One additional question I have the 18x18 matt and a 18x18 225 watt RDP. I'm assuming I will put the matt in the corner...
I'm a bit confused I bought a new 18x18 Kane mat and hooked it up to my Hebastat and to test it put a stuffed animal on the center of the pad after checking it with my IR gun it was at 150 degrees. I've turned it down to 50% dimming and its still 140 degrees. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...
I have a question about the bottom of the night boxes I don't think I've seen a picture of since the boards are oriented up the plywood on the bottom can me attached to the studs but the plywood on top of the foam has nothing to screw into is there a framing structure on the bottom that I've...
Hello all I'm building my Tom inspired house and I'm still confused on the Kane mat, if I have a oil heater and have the temp in the box lets say 85 degrees and the Kane mat is going to go 37 over that is that not a unsafe temp?
