Hi, sulcata grow very big so you will need suitable enclosures and care for now and future years . Depending on the tortoise size and the enclosure, substrate outside is normally soil but if smaller and inside then orchid bark works well. A hide is always a nice addition along with low...
1st option stay put and someone comes in, 2nd option Create a smaller set up that is mobile that could go to a friend or family to bloom after . You could also check local reptiles shops to see if they will house it. Good luck
Hope you found the bark you needed? Swell reptiles sells small bark. I buy Prorep bark in the UK. Sometimes there's are flies so whilst it sounds odd, I bake it in the cover on trays for 30 mins to get rid of the bugs. I find it the most easy non messy substrate and it goes in the...
I agree with above. Please check light, enclosure size, heat and diet. Tortoise hate change. Mine brumated in full and is a very active every day. He also has indoor and outdoor enc but I only put him out when there is warm sun. In addition check the enclosure layout and size. Low rocks and...
I assume they get it but the skin toughens up around it. In captivity we can see it and address it. You will improve it's welfare with a nail file and it is only a few strokes to make the difference.
I had similar with my torts neck getting rubbed by the sharp shell. I just got a nail file and made the rough area smooth and then run your finger over the area to check for any other rough edges. Give the tort a good soak and I used a dab of Savlon cream on the area and it healed quickly...
Not sure about the middle one but top and bottom pics look good. Hibiscus is a shrub so growing from seed will take for ages instead search " hardy hibiscus" and assuming you have a plot buy 1 or 2 bare root plants (sticks at this time of year) which will last years and provide you flowers in...
I had planned to end Speedy my 7 year old Russian Tortoise brumation today based on duration and the month. This coincided with a lovely spring sunny day in the UK.
I prepared him in Nov and then he brumated in my garage since the start of December, I checked on him throughout. When I...

Sorry for your loss. I think you have taken care of it but Russians are normally so active and this was not the case with your tort as I think there was an underlying illness or bone disease.
Well done, my enclosure was smaller but still a lot of work to plan, prep and build my tort really appreciates it. Your torts will enjoy the space and flourish. Well done for the planning, building, wounds, labouring and end result.
