Ok so for a quick update I have replaced his bedding with eco earth. It seems way more moist and humid and it sits him a little closer to the uV bulb and my reader shows the level at his shell at 4.3. I have covered the screen portion (most of it) with foil to hold in the humidity. I’m spraying...
Right now in Phoenix it’s 64 and sunny with highs hitting 70. Is it ok to let him out now and give him sun for a few hrs?
About a year old sulcata
Ignore the bedding in the picture. Its from a few days ago. He’s got eco earth to keep the humidity higher
When I first got my sulcata the bulb was putting out 1.2 which is way low. The box showed it needs to be 3.5-4.5 so I got a new bulb and the UV IS AROUND 3.5. I plan on adding more bedding this weekend to get him closer and a little higher UV
I’ll try that for a while. I also covered the majority of the cage with a towel which should help a bit. I will build a humid hide with eco earth this weekend and that should help tremendously
I have the bottom lined with plastic. I added a few bottles of water and mixed it up plus sprayed the cage a few times today and soaked him. I tried mazuri pelleted soaked today again and this time he is eating it along with fresh grass clippings. I’ll see how it looks when I get home in the...
Ok. I will start soaking daily. I poured a good amount of water in the bedding and mixed it up plus sprayed the bedding and soaked him and covered all of the top I could with a towel
I think for the time being I will get a long Tupperware container and cut the end off and fill that will eco earth. That should keep humidity high and I can spray the whole enclosure and add water to the hide as needed.
