I’ve been sifting through his table and not seeing anything but as you say, it’s easy to miss. He does ride the mile to work with me one a month or so and he definitely poops in my office. His table is 92F on one side and 76F on the other. We soak 2-3 time weekly in a tall sided cat litter pan...
Unfortunately, I don't have space for a larger enclosure where I live now. Inside at least.
It's safe to leave him out 24/7? I got a bunch of lectures about predators and escaped tortoise and local box turtles spreading disease from the folks I got him from... His enclosure goes a foot...
I am getting a read on his basking side as my thermometer on that side is out of batteries. All over is 76. His table is 4x 2 1/2. His outdoor enclosure is 10x10.
I will try to get him out more. It didn't occur to me that the change in my work schedule, changing his outdoor time might be part...
Hi wonderful tortoise people!
I have a 5-10 year old Russian Tortoise who has been with me for a little over 2 years. He's been an easy going, grumpy, old man and we have an indoor and outdoor enclosure for him. I also grow most of his summer diet myself. He's always been a slightly picky but...
Hey folks! Curiosity is getting to me!
My Russian tortoise, Kilian, has been with me almost a month now and I adore him but would really like to know a little bit more about him. We adopted a female, 4 yo tortoise. Don't get me wrong, this rescue and everything they do is over the moon. However...
New tortoise owner here. Still getting an overabundance of conflicting info on how to best house my Russian tort who has been with me 2 weeks. I am a little worried that his substrate might be too dusty. (I've read that is bad in the long run. My husband says I read to much and need to chill.)...
I very much did miss it! I am so used to dealing with mammals, I didn't even question when the previous owners said she. And the vet did not correct the assumption. How can you tell? My curiosity abounds!
Yvonne G,
Thanks so much. I will add the baby food to our evening soak. I can't wait to see her a little healthier. It hurts to see her as she is even if the vet says she's going to be just fine.
I also wanted to add that during soaks and in tanks, I have seen no evidence of urination or...
Hi all,
I recently took on a 10 year old Russian from a local family who had to move and am trying to figure out how to keep her as comfortable as possible and get her back in shape. The family had her for 9 months and according to the vet had been feeding her much too much of the wrong stuff...
