Here's a summary of my setup plan:
My Winter enclosure is insulated 10'x12' shed and 6' tall. Right now the temp is kept with 1500W oil-filled space heater and couple small fans for air circulation. I want to avoid using this as much as possible to reduce the electrical cost - hopefully my...

Alright, I just spent roughly $1k on radiate heat panels and matts. I've never use these products before. What's a good height for the radiate panels? I"m thinking 3 feet because my torts are about a foot and few inches tall when laying flat.
Thank you for all the responses.

I guess I’ll use cypress mulch again. Keeping the mulch consistently damp might be a bit challenging without saturating the air with humidity. Although air temperature is around 80°F, there’s a...
Winter is coming, and it’s time to place the Aldabra into their winter enclosure. The issue I face every year is the amount of dust that gets generated. Last year, I covered the ground with cypress mulch—it helped at first, but after about a month it still created a lot of dust. I switched to...
Thank you for the insight. I haven’t been paying much attention to them lately because of work. I’ve also started switching their diet from dry food (hay/Mazuri) to fresh options like mulberry and grass. The tortoises seem much more energetic and eager, often rushing to the food. It’s possible...
Hi,
Thank you everyone for the responses. This morning I checked on the tortoise and the condition appears to have improved. In regard to the prescription medication, is there an alternative? I mean, 200lb isn't something easy to just lift and carry.
Also, I check on Chewy (Link) and it seems...
Hi,
Something is wrong with one of my tortoise's eyes—it’s affecting only one eye (please see the attached images). There was no issue few days ago, and the other tortoises' eyes appear normal. My guess is that he may have scratched it himself or possibly got some dirt in it, but I’m not...
I want to give them as much land as I can and so I dont want to section up the space. Having said that, I could whatever land I have in the front of my property to grow grass for them.
I place their food in their feeding bowls, far away from the sand patch. Right now I'm still training them to feed on hay by mixing w/ mazuri.
I cant be collecting plants for them anymore. All of my torts are between 60-75lb and they pretty much clear out all the weeds and wines around my...
May be hard to remove sand because I have a patch under a shade. Beside all torts love to lay on the sand to cool themselves down during the day. I can try to cover the sand w/ mulch but the torts will likely digging up the sand again.
I'll definitely feed less watermelon, carrot, pumpkin and...
