Everything that I'm finding is like A LOT of material. I only need like 4 feet. I thought the internet had everything! Ugh! (@ shopping on the internet, not you)
I am in the process of changing his enclosure right now, so I will post after the change. He, admittedly, is probably not getting enough humidity. I plan to solve that with the Sphagnum moss.
I tried looking into pond plastic and it looks like I have to get a lot of it and it's like $80. Maybe I can find a cheap shower curtain..especially because I'm assuming that regular garbage bags won't exactly work?
I need to waterproof (or water resist) my wood enclosure quick. I am intending to put some sphagnum peat moss in there which gets a little moist. However, I don't really have another place for my tortoise if it has to dry for a really long time. Any ideas?
No, unfortunately I live in South Dakota which is no place for an outdoor tortoise pen.
However, I AM trying to make his indoor terrarium more enjoyable by putting some peat moss and (hopefully) plant some things for him to nibble on in there.
So are you saying that he'll never be happy? All I want is a better life for him. I just want to give him head pets like other owners do. Or at least feel like he doesn't hate every move I make.
I have had my Russian Tortoise for about 3 years now. Unfortunately, I have not been properly caring for him, but I am determined to make his life better. On this note, my tortoise is VERY opposed to the idea of me at all. I think he hates me. I try to pet him but he just gets mad and jerks...
How well do these plants grow? Unfortunately, there's a rule against greenhouses in my neighborhood (we can't even have a fence) so that really wouldn't be an option. However, I do grow some plants on the windowsill in my living room. Maybe it'll survive? I'm kind of lousy at growing things in...
The only plantains that I know that grow around here are dandilions. Even if there was more, the frost will start to come within the next week or two so nothing will be growing :/ it'll start snowing before another month comes around. South Dakota is great isn't it? Ugh...
He hasn't been popping while I've been bathing him. I think he mostly just sleeps until the water gets too cold. We only have one veterinarian in my town that does reptiles so I don't think I get to be picky with it :/ I haven't taken him to the vet yet and I was hoping that I wouldn't need to....
