I feel like a savage now that everyone talks about trimming their tortoises nails with a dremel. I actually trim mine with a good old fashioned nail clipper. I do have a dremel, I bought one in case I need to trim his nails, but I don't feel comfortable with doing that with the way he squirms...

I haven't noticed his beak growing any more than normal. He's never had any nail or beak issues. I've trimmed his nails twice, 1mm each time but that's about it. The shell around his butt and neck area has been growing. He's 190 grams now. The neck area I did have to file down a bit...

O! NVM, you are totally right, I went back on older photos, the thumb is there but it's super tiny and hugs his palm so it's hard to see, it's almost barely visible. So I guess his thumb nail decided to finally grow, makes sense cuz I see new translucent keratin growing on the edge of his shell.

It's possible but, 2 weeks or so ago, that thumb nail was very short, skinny, curled and yellow. What made me notice it was how thin, curled and pointy it was and half the length of the other ones, like new growth. To me it kinda looked like people with 6 fingers, a small curled finger growing...

I'm pretty sure he only had 4 nails per foot the entire time till now. Now he has 5 per front foot and still 4 in the back feet.

He had 4, 4 on back legs too, now the 2 front ones have new thumbs. I'll try to get some pics later since you guys wanna see.

My Indian Star is about over a year and a half and I noticed he grew a new claw on both front feet where the thumb should be. Nothing broke off that I know of. It's a lot thinner and smaller than the other claws. Creeped me out when I first saw it. Is this a normal thing?
