Does anyone else's Russian tortoise sleep for long periods? Mine is about 7 years old and we have had her 5 years. She usually eats twice a day and is very active. At some point once or twice a year( and at different times in the year), she will start to eat once a day, then not at all and...

I don't think I am brave enough to do that. I feel like she is in a self imposed hibernation. She has been sleeping for three weeks straight. I want to wake her and bath her, but I feel like I am messing with nature.

My Russian is sleeping all day every day. What is the right way to let her hibernate. How long will it last

Wow, just thought of that this morning. Gave her some fruit with the lettuce. She ate a little of both but that was it. It's been over a week.

My Russian tortoise hasn't eaten in a week. Last year she "hibernated" for a long time and then ate a lot. This year she slowed down, slept a lot. She is now up and walking every day but still not eating. Has this happened to anyone else?

Here are two pictures of our new tank. Would love any critiques of how we set it up. There is cypress mulch in 3 trays, river rocks in one and plantain soil in the other two. I was concerned about heating it properly because it is so big. I have 3 thermometers and the temperature seems ok.

I have a Russian and have just built a wood box. I was going to put a section with Forest Floor Cypress mulch - which is what she has been on, a section of river rocks and a section of soil bc when I take her outside in the summer she loves to burrow in the soil. Can't find any chemical free...
