    THE ANT WARS

I agree with the recommendation of DE. If you pour boiling water (~2-3 gallons) down the colony and add DE around it it should make that entrance unusable, so they don't bother your tortoise. This likely wouldn't kill them but if you see any more pop up you can use the same treatment and...

Can I keep a baby Central Bearded Dragon with my baby tortoise

I agree, I try to feed all of my animals as large of a variety as possible. I don't think a lot of owners understand gut-loading which is why it's important to educate them. I've tried breeding silkworms but I never got them very far. I'm going to try breeding hornworms sometime and see if I...

Can I keep a baby Central Bearded Dragon with my baby tortoise

Bearded dragons ideally need a 1.5-2:1 ca: p ratio. I don't know of any feeder (except BSFL) that can achieve that ratio on their own (without dusting/gut loading). I think a variety is the best choice (no feeder is perfect, they each have pros and cons) but dubias are often referred to as the...

Can I keep a baby Central Bearded Dragon with my baby tortoise

I think you got lots of great advice but I might be able to help a bit for the beardie. As an adult it will need a minimum of 8-10 square feet (the more the better). They will also climb, so providing climbing branches (not too tall but a way for enrichment and extra basking) is a very, very...

    My Latest Endeavor...

Out of curiosity, what would be the best way to remove a hawks talons in case of an emergency? For example, if a hawk is close to breaking bones or is attacking a captive animal (like a dog). In one of the practice tests I did it said to grab it by its neck and pull, it seems like there would be...

    Cool video

That's neat. There were likely better ways to handle it (rather than pulling the snake and hurting both) but I'm glad they were both okay.

    EXCELLENT NEWS UPDATE

I'm glad she should be doing better soon. I don't know much about tortoises but everyone else should be able to help with treatment.

    COLD DARK ROOM

It took longer than normal for me too. However, I'm on another form from this same software/hosting company and that is always slow.

    EMERGENCY!

You need to take the tortoise to a reliable reptile vet NOW. It's life is on the line and it doesn't look like it's going to fix itself. Edit: I'm glad that she's doing better but I still think she needs to go to a vet. There's still likely something in her throat/lungs that needs to come out...

    My Latest Endeavor...

I've joined a forum and bookmarked tons of websites so I'll have plenty of reading to do to decide if I want to try this someday.

That's absolutely amazing! It doesn't sound like that could ever get old or boring.

    My Latest Endeavor...

This makes perfect sense. Someday I really do think I want to do it. However it won't likely be soon due to their housing (I can't build in my backyard) and daily maintenance (I would like to take vacations or long weekends somewhere and these aren't an animal someone else can take care of)...

    My Latest Endeavor...

This is so cool! I just heard about someone doing this a few days ago. I added this to my bucket list for someday. It sounds like such an amazing experience. I didn't know it was something anybody could do (with a lot of hard work).
