Alright so i got it damp and packed it down but it still is super messy (super messy as in the coco coir absorbing all his water basically making a "mud" type of thing). Should i be using less substrate or use a smaller water bowl so only his feet get wet not a little up his shell? I feel like...

Well. On top of every other issue i have as a beginner like enclosure set up an size and annoying mold i have another. I know tortoises are messy but this is ry getting out of hand. My substrate is coco coir from the bag, i don't wet it ( am i supposed to?). I dont have any other substrate mixed...
Ok thanks now the hard part is convincing my parents to buy bins for this little "project" and i suppose arranging my room in a way to fit it would be difficult as well. Luckily my brother said he might take the bookshelf i don't really need any more. That should clear some space.
I checked it out and it was pretty cool and doesn't look to expensive. It doesn't seem to take up that much space either. But i do have to ask one thing , do you know what gallon tub that is or what would be good because i don't want to buy the wrong size because i'm not good sure what is good.
I saw this i wanted to try to make something like this. How big are the tubs because the look a size i can handle because i am limited with space and need a bigger enclosure than what i have now.

Well does it have to be that size and how would i do a double decker. And i don't really want him to be outside because then i would need to have a top to the enclosure because of predatory birds and i have raccoons by where i live. I don't want to make this whole thing that would be expensive...
