I am currently building an outdoor habitat for my 12” male red footed tortoise with fences on my backyard. I am curious if he could dig through the soil & mud & grass under the fence and escape? If he possibly could do it, what should I do to prevent him from escaping? Should I make at least 6”...

Oh Dear, I completely believe you that tortoise don’t like to live as pair. I just so shocked of Bubblegum could possibly bullying Joy since he is a lot lot lot bigger than her 😳. Joy’s size is like a volleyball and Bubblegum’s size is like a hamburger.
