    Failing to thrive

Our sweet little guy passed away on Sunday. Thank you for the help and the support. We were hoping to have many, many years with the little fellow, but it was not meant to be. I wish all of you well.

And lately. He becomes more alert during his soak but that is just for a few min.

    Failing to thrive

We got him back in beginning of April. At that point we think he was just a month or less old.

    Failing to thrive

So here are a couple that I have on my phone. I will take more tonight after work. I know one shows our lab in the pic...no worries, we never let them mix. I had a hold of torts the whole time. So, we got our Torts from a reptile pet store. Where he was prior to that, who knows. We do have a...

    Failing to thrive

We got our Tortoise April 1 2017. When we first got him, he was full of energy. Always on the go. Would walk outside, eat at his leisure, active in his cage. Over the next several months, his activity have drastically decreased to where it is now. Next to nothing. We put him outside, he won't...

    Cage cleaning/weight gain

How often should I completely clean out and replace substrate in aquarium? We've had our Tortorella a little over two weeks and have added substrate, such as timothy hay, peat moss, reptile bark. He still very little...palm of hand little. Also, to me, it seems as though he is still so small...

    Oil Diffuser without the Oil

I am struggling with getting humidity levels above 50%, even with daily spraying of environment (20 gallon aquarium with cage top wrapped with aluminum foil), I use bulbs (CHE and MVP). Temps are good...steadily above 90-100 in basking area and 80s in cool area. Tortorella is small, about 0.10...

    Oil Diffuser without the Oil

I was wondering if keeping a diffuser in the reptile home to increase amount of moisture is a good idea or bad idea. Of course, this would not include essential oils...just water. Has anyone tried this?

    New Tortoise Table - Suggestions

In a pinch, this seemed to work for others until you find a more permanent solution. This is aluminum foil over screen. I have a baby sulcata, so I have him in a 20 gallon (too small) but a friend is building a new enclosure as I type this. I have the double lamp you have with the ceramic...

    New sulcata torti mom

No I don't have it hooked up to a thermostat. How/where do I find that? I have a thermo under heat lamp, but that's it. I know now that I need to know the four temps...warm side, cold side, basking spot and night temp.

    New sulcata torti mom

I have found this as an example of enclosing the aquarium for the humidity. It seems to have worked for this person, keeping humidity at 80%+. I will have to mist twice daily and add a jar of fresh water each day to keep under lamp. Otherwise, will this work??

    New sulcata torti mom

We take Tort out to graze and eat at his (idk sex yet, so "he" is what we were to it as until we know in several yrs) leisure. He seeks out clover and dandelions. He took his first poop today in his morning soak. We definitely keep torti separate from dogs. So far, I've feed him clover, wild...
