Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

Some good news at last. In preparing our boy for brumation, it appears I may have inadvertently solved the problem. His pinworm count was high, so I have treated for that and the difference in his behavior, a couple weeks later, is remarkable. He is now much more active and eating more and...

Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

Further update. I now have 1 x basking flood (silver dome), 1 x CHE black dome and 1 x LED in living space and 1 x CHE in hide which has a digital temp control ensuring night temps do not drop below 21 degrees Celsius. You will see the entrance to hide blocked. If I don't do this, tortoise just...

I should add that he has never brumated before. Previously owner had him for 5 years since birth and never brumated and then we have had him for 4 months or so.

Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

Further update: yesterday and today, the tortoise has managed to dig underneath the bit of wood I had blocking his hide and has taken himself back to bed. Such is his determination to hide away. I'm actually impressed that he managed it. I have a couple more domes being delivered in next few...

Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

I think, it's working. Hooked him out of his hide and hour or so ago and gave him a good mix of foraged food. Have just seen him, for the first time in ages, pee on his food plate and leave a couple of poops as well. This is after having a good feed of sow thistle flowers, dandelion flowers and...

Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

He was able to go under that half log thing and he did do that for some of the time. But was also able to walk about and feed and I could feel he was nice and warm. Think I'll continue with this approach for a week or so. It's certainly the most active he's been for a good while. Have just...

Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

Altered the CHE position as suggested Have been fishing him out of his pit the last few days but the lazy little bugger just kept going straight back to bed. Today I've taken a new approach and physically blocked the entrance to his sleeping quarters for a couple hours after fishing him out...

I've ordered a couple of domes. Does anyone have a link to suitable led lights?

Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

We are digging him up every couple days. He does occasionally show himself but not very often. His appetite is not good at all really. I started giving him lambs lettuce a while ago and he seemed to love that but now doesn't seem interested. Unless it's a dandelion or clover flower, he doesn't...

Ahh you mean like a reflective dome? I'll try a couple of them and hang the 2 CHE's I have a bit higher to cover a greater area. Thanks.

The lights have been changed for a couple weeks. The CHE for the sleeping area, just a day or two so far.

Advice on newly accquired 5 yr old Male Horsefield's

Update on things: I now have a digital controller and CHE ensuring his sleep area never gets below 21 degrees Celsius, have swapped MVB for flood on 12hr timer and also have UVB strip light on timer between 12pm and 4pm each day. Temps in basking spots look ok. Tortoise is still, however...

Hey Thank you! I was already aware of the care sheet but the other info is equally valuable.
