Our Hermann’s Tortoise is about a year old and 200 grams. I recently noticed that his shell doesn’t seem quite right. A small section of his shell on either side of his tail seems transparent. His shell shape also seems more bumpy. Attaching a photo.

Thank you! Yours is too. How old is he/she and how much does it weigh? Mine (named Green T. Mochi) is smaller and lighter than I expected for a 6 month old which makes me wonder about his real age...

I just gave ours a red hibiscus petal today! He ate it up like candy. Hope it’s nutritious.

We had a short list before settling on Green T. Mochi. Some others we thought of are: wasabi, guava, guac (a-mole), pistachio, dash, taco, rhubarb...somehow almost all food related!

Thank you! We love our littlest addition. We removed the large water bowl completely. We were using it for soaks anyway but he knew how to crawl out.

Yes, the lid is open on one side. The humidity on the covered side is better but our tort doesn’t like to hang out there. I’ve been misting as much as possible when I’m home...
