    The T8 10.0 bulbs emit low levels of UVB unless they are relatively close to the tortoise, sometimes less than 6" depending on the target UVI level. At higher than 12-14" they provide almost no UVB, according to my readings. Between 6-12" they could be beneficial in providing low levels of UVB...

    You could also try finding the Zoomed Reptisun T5 10.0. It's a good tube bulb with great UVB output at the correct distance.

    FYI: Fir and Pine are different species of trees. As mentioned, fir trees do not ooze sap or oils like pine trees and fir wood is harder than pine.

    Reptile Prime

    ZooMed Reptile Bark is "100% Fir Bark" and available at pet stores, Amazon etc. The chips are bigger than what the picture suggests, about thumb nail size or bigger...depending on how big your thumbs are...
