Hi Krista! Looking at your habitat and thinking of making one like yours. I can only find 24 inch x3/4 x 4’.
Is yours made with a (2)8’ sheets?
Thanks!
Sarah
Reaching out again. I have a pet cam and watching my Russian tortoise “Tuck”. If any of you remember he is in two zoomed enclosures connected.
After watching him for two days I’m getting a better picture of what his days entail. The usual walking the perimeter, staring at a plant, and it...
I’ve been looking for orchard bark here in Michigan. The best deal I found was on Amazon and it was very expensive.
Wondering if any one has used or has thoughts on using “reptichip”? It’s made from coconuts.
Thank you so much for your replies. I definitely feel better. I am going be making something bigger but no longer feel desperate and incompetent. What type of wood would you recommend?
Also, making it more interesting will be fun and rewarding as I improve the quality of his life! 🥰
Is there something documented by a herpetologist stating that 4’x8’ or bigger is the correct size for a Russian Toetoise?
I’m asking because I have mine in a 2’x 6’ space. Two zoomed enclosures put together. I feel horribly guilty.
I hear him through the day banging about sometimes...
I’m curious as to the 4’x8’ size requirement for a Russian tortoise. Is this from a hepetologist or opinion? I’m asking because my Russian is In a 2x6’ enclosure. Two zoomed habitats put together.
Do you or are any of you scientist with data? I’m only asking because I feel horribly...
I’m in Holland Michigan. I rescued a male Russian Tortoise and would like to rehome home him to someone with experience.
He was living for 10 years in a 36” glass aquarium. I’ve had him for 3 weeks. He eats well and has been to the vet to get his beak trimmed.
Thanks for considering,
Sarah
Does anyone know of the Turtle Tortoise Rescue of Arroyo Grande? Would this be a good option for my male Russian tortoise?
Apparently they have an out door area set up for Russians and have a few running around.
Any insight would be appreciated!
His name is Tuck (I think). Sounds like your guy is pretty lucky. A conservatory!
Trial and error is a good way to think about this. Right now though, I go in often and sit with him. My fingers are crossed that I’ll be able to have two indoor enclosures and he’ll be content part of the day...
