Hi! I did but that was a few days ago. It seems it's gotten better since I scaled back on the radicchio. I wondered if that may have been too much. I have had him a few years and was told he was 22 when I got him.
Hi!
For the first time, my hingeback pooped black. I haven't gone off on his main diet. He loves mushrooms, red & green leaf lettuce, and radicchio. I'm concerned with the color. Is it because he's getting too much. I do give him a good amount. Perhaps it may have been more than usual.
Any...
Ok, thank you. Yes, I never really liked the coil bulb (even though it's uva/Uvb specific but found good reviews on it. I'll check out the groups as well.
When I got him from someone who was (screech) selling him at a yard sale, she said he was 22. Couple years ago. I don't have the perfect enclosure for him but trying to find a much larger one. I really want him to live well. Sorry it's so dark.
Hi!
Yes. He's A tropical Homes Hinge back. This is the only one I have of him at the moment for saving space on my phone. Tried to send you a video. Won't allow.
He's about 24 years old.

Hi!
So I'm a bit miffed and don't know where to find this information.
I live in 4-seasons Michigan though not in the coldest area.
I have an African Hinge back. I didn't remember experiencing this last year but noticed he's slowed way down on coming out of his hide and Def less eating and...
OK. I'll try that. I'm not sure I like the entire substrate being wet but maybe in the areas where he basks. I'm curious about the radiant heat so I'll check into that.
Thank you so very much.

Hi!
I have an African Hingeback tortoise. While I have a spray mister going 15 seconds every 6 hours, and keep a good temperature, the enclosure (a 55 gallon tank) only ever shows low tropical numbers on the hygrometer (I've used two hygrometers), so I fear he's not getting enough moisture...
I didn't mean to imply that He is constantly in the water, just that he likes to go in their every day (which he did even before I put in the new bulb. I'm also not saying I'm using the bulb for humidity. I tried to say that the bulb over the bath helps with humidity, as well as the warming of...
I'm unsure about the colorblindness, except that I have read it on a couple of sites with regard to the uvb/uva lighting.
As far as the enclosure. It's a 4' x 20" (and I can't remember how tall) tank. I have a huge 15 1/2" hide (from previous owner) on one end of the tank (which takes up most...
I've never seen the Arcadia brand. That looks like something I'd prefer for a couple areas of the tank. I'm considering an under tank heat mat (or side, whatever)
Thanks!
What is all of this attached to?
I have (two) hygrometers coming (one for each end of the enclosure). It'll be a bit before they get here but there is a therm strip on the tank for the moment.
I like the idea of an overall area. I just don't think I'd be able to afford what it would probably cost to run that type of bulb. My enclosure is exactly 4' long so the bulb would've had to be smaller. I still want to post photos so everyone can see what I'm talking about, but I haven't tried...
I'm quickly finding that out but I needed to purchase something right away because he wasn't getting what he needed. The problem is, once I started researching the basking/heat/uvb/uva, it all became so very confusing because so many options pop up. Yesterday, I purchased a ZooMed 5.0 13 Watt...
