1. Is this normal? Checking on Sandy I found her under basking light. Head/neck completely stretched out on ground with eyes shut. Reminded me of a dragon. Hated to do it but I had to pick her up to see if she was okay.

I just noticed something today that I wanted your opinion about. This morning while I was soaking I noticed the front part of the shell did not looks like the other parts.
Looking back at old pictures I noticed it was always there. Not sure...

Currently using this to weigh Sandy. Need to buy those weights to test to make sure scale is accurate. So many things to do each day and the day just fly's!

I forgot to mention Sandy's length did not change and was 2 3/8" +/- but not 100% accurate since I just eyeballed.
I still need to get a camera or one of the grandkids old cell phones.

Is there a rule of thumb for tortoise weight?
Every two weeks after the soak at the same time of day I am going to weigh Sandy.
May 17, 2024 = 45 1/2 grams <- Arrived
May 28, 2024 = 54 1/2...
I do not have a camera or have yet to ever own a cell phone. Relying on my grandkids for pictures.

Is it normal for tortoise to bury themselves for the night. Coconut Coir is very moist.
Since I adjusted temperature, ( pretty close to post #67 ), the tortoise is above ground the whole day. Eating and goes poop and pee when soaking at 7am. Seems to eat on and off...
Remember everyone here has you and your tortoise in the best of interest.
I had a tremendous learning curve, thought I knew everything, which this forum cured and my first baby tortoise will hopefully have a great life.
Bottom line its all about your tortoise.
Take pictures of your enclosure...

This forum is absolutely AMAZING! Do not believe in coincidences.
Enclosed enclosure is such a powerful toolset. Only a few degrees and Tortoise is already out of basking area and eating! I hope I do not make it to hot.
Will keep an eagle eye on the temp readings.
