I don't think that's right. It's cruel to keep an animal enclosed in a small area. N my stinky doesn't like it at all. She likes walking around the house n finding a spot for herself. She likes sleeping in her blankets in her room. N she has liked it since 18 years. I feel bad for all animals...
What you are saying makes a lot of sense. But unfortunately each time I hv tried to create an enclosure for her, she walks away from it n doesnt seem to like it.
Hi,
I have had my star tortoise, stinky, since 18 yrs. I live in a hot n humid city in a flat (no garden available) stinky is female and has recently layed 4 unfertilised eggs in the span of 6 months.
Her diet includes : kaddu (lauki), lady fingers, French beans (without the seeds), tomatoes...
Stinky layed 2 eggs last night in her blankets. They r 1.5 inch long. She still has one more egg inside. She has been sleeping a lot after laying (must be tired) but eating well.
I had done exactly this. She was happy to sit in the balcony. But not on the soil.
I visited the vet today, he didn't think it was something to worry about. He said she just needs a cozy quiet dark place. So gv her some privacy.
So I've made a corner for her in my brother in laws room which is...
Yes it is illegal. I'm in Maharashtra. But I normally take her to a place where they don't say anything. While traveling I cover her up so noone can see her.
I live in an apartment building. I don't hv any place where I can leave her unattended. I could make something for her indoors in my apartment. But she seems to be uninterested in mud.
This is her xray from today. The eggs hv become more elongated n less round. ( the eggs she had layed were elongated also)
Unfortunately the vet is not available untill Monday.
Stinky is still walking around a lot. A little less than before (maybe she's tired?) as per her xray she still has 3 eggs. Although the shape has changed. I will post her xray from 3 months ago n also the latest.
I did take her to a garden with lots of mud n grass. She walked around a bit but...
Thanks! Well she has been roaming my house since 18 years. N hates confined places. So I wud never be happy closing her up in a tiny place. She likes to follow me sometimes, or choose her fav spot for the day. The house is her box n it's completely safe. Noone could possibly steal her from my home.
