    Impressa ?

There's one person that hatches a bunch of Impressa every year and Jay at "Turtles and Tortoises INC " sells some for him every year for around $600 each I think. I think he exports also. I have 55 eggs right now but I'm not sure if any are good or not yet.

    Impressed Tortoises - (Manouria Impressa)

The wild caught ones I have were very picky eaters in the beginning but now all of them will eat just about anything I give them. Spending $100 a week on mushrooms gets old fast but you should plan on 6-8 months of it before managing to get them to move past the mushrooms. Just try putting...

    Continuing to be impressed,

It's very true, I got a bunch last year that were stuffed with sand that caused multiple issues that lead to many deaths. They came in and were eating and breeding and I though I finally got some fresh caught ones that had a better chance and then most died from ailments from sand impaction...

    Impressa ?

I think it would be much easier to import CB from the US. Plus this way you don't have to buy 20 wild caught in order to have a pair alive a year later.

    Impressa

quote: "Very cool species! Man I would be nervous to even keep those haha. " Captive born ones are much much easier than wc ones. CB are as bullet proof as they come. They eat anything and are pretty tough. Just keep them damp and between 50-80f. If you get imports you should start with 50 if...

    Impressed hanging out

They really do and as they get older you can see how their intelligents grows. When I put my adults outside for the first time in the spring they just sit there and look around for a long time. They will sit and watch birds at a bird feeder or anything else that catches their eye.

    Ploughshare torts

Well it's not that cut and dry so to speak. While some are collecting from the wild in large numbers to sell on the markets other are either selling a single animal to buy food for their family or butching whatever they come across no matter what it is to feed their families. Anyone that has...

    Project Impressa

Have you picked up any smaller ones Eric ? They seem to take the change to captivity much faster, stress a lot less than the older hardwired adults and seem to be in much better overall condition when they arrive. I was wondering if you had the same experience with the youngsters ? Just from...

    Impressed Tortoise Sex ?

Yeah female. I have grown 5 from a young age. It seems easy at a point to tell then after they get a little bigger than that it almost becomes harder to tell again. But 99% sure it's a female.

it really goes to show their intelligence how different they are from tortoise to tortoise on what foods they like. And goes to show mine as I had to look how to spell intelligence lol.

    Project Impressa

I've been working with these guys for a while now and that is the way to go, buy 20 and hope to have 2.2 in a year. Most of the deaths are in the first week usually within the first 36 hours. I have 2.2 from the April shipment. It came in as a 4.4 one dead on arrival and 3 more within 36 hours...

New Manouria page in the Library!

One thing I would like to note is the wide variation of color in Impressa. Adults can be a solid yellow/mustard, olive and brown. I have seen some information on how males have brighter colored heads but from my experience the sex doesn't have a factor in color of the heads or shells. Their...

    300 for radiated?

QUOTE "Kleinmannis are ridiculously endangered and I wouldn't advise owning one to begin with, and the cheapest I have ever seen them was over a grand. " I know what you getting at but Egyptians aren't that rare in captivity these days in the US and I've heard of hatchlings for $300 or less...

That's funny, I've seen my impressa climb trees and bushes as well as forming a ladder with them climbing up each others backs 5 high. I wish I had a picture of that one.
