    Old Mazuri?

My DT Ariza is already brumating. I have some leftover Mazuri that I bought mid-summer. I wonder if I should just throw it away. I put it in the freezer but it's probably too old already. She loves it and I'll buy more in the Spring after she comes out. Any advice?

Is Calylophus Hartwegii (sundrops) safe for my DT?

The native nursery near me lists sundrops as safe for tortoises, but I have never seen it listed in any tortoise lists. I used to have the plant and it's a very pretty ground cover with yellow flowers but it died when visiting cats started using it for a toilet.. I would love to plant it again...

Pale green fuzzy broadleaved volunteer plant

I've had a plant volunteer in my yard and have no idea what it is. It has pale green fuzzy leaves, feel just like velvet. Anyone know what it is? Hope it's not poisonous to my DT but she never eats plants with fuzzy leaves, anyway.

    Sepia bones instead of cuttlebone

When I put in an order at TortoiseSupply recently I ordered Sepia Bones, which is a calcium supplement for tortoises and other reptiles and amphibians. Ariza didn't touch at first but has been chomping on it since then. Anyone here feeding it to their torts? Is it as good as cuttlebones?

Does your tort like cactus pads?

I finally bought spineless cactus pads from TortoiseSupply.com. They sent me two big pads. I planted the bigger one and left the other by Ariza's burrow entrance (to get her attention). She took a couple of bites and left it untouched after that. Will she grow to like it? She has in the...

    Show us your burrow

I thought it would be fun seeing all the different burrows adoring hosts have created for their tortoises. I made this one for Ariza with cinder blocks and two plywood covers. The tunnel is 12 inches wide by 48 inches long and the ''bedroom'' is wider to allow plenty of room to turn around. I...

    Pooping inside burrow

I was concerned that my adult desert tortoise was not pooping after coming out late February. She did twice but only after a soak, which she hates and struggles to get out. I finally today used a garden tool to scrape the floor of her burrow and pulled out lots of dried up poop. Is this...
