If you want to use the Solar Glo bulb from Exo Terra, go with the 125watt bulb. That's what I have, and its about 13" above the substrate and I get the perfect temp gradient with that setup.

I'm curious about lavender, too! We have several huge lavender bushes growing around here... I know you can use the leaves/flowers to make tea, and its often used to calm animals. It sure would be pretty in an outdoor enclosure.
