When I went to wake my tortoise this morning. He had wee'd in his bed and stayed lying in it until we woke him up. There was a big clump of white and his bedding was wet underneath him.
Is it normal for them to wee and lie in it while they are sleeping?
I bought some mixed Weed seeds (tortoise safe) the other week off shelled warriors on Ebay. I have grown some of them but can't identify what any of them are.
Can anyone help me and clarify that they are safe for my tortoise?
Thanks in advance [emoji2]
Thanks. He eats a mixture of weeds and grocery salad leaves.
I got some kitchen scales today to weigh the little guy and he weighs 387g. Looking at the McIntyre Ratio Graph he is flagging up as below average weight?? His carapace measures about 125/130mm
Hi I have had. My 9 year old tortoise Arnie since Dec 2014. From what I know he was very neglected at his home before me for 6 months. I have followed some good advice on here and from other sources as to how is best to care for my tortoise.
I am just a little worried he is becoming a little...
Just a quick update:
Arnie has started to wake up in the morning on his own and come out to play now since Friday :) but still doesn't got to bed till I pit him in his hide.
Yes I have been closely monitoring his temps. I am awaiting the hygrometre to check humidity.
But honestly I think he is loving the heat at the min as his last owner neglected him as he only had a heat mat the hardly met 60f and no uvb light for 5 months!!!
When I first gave him the correct...
Hi thanks for all your replies. I have had Arnie for about a month now but I have only recently moved him from a vivarium to a tortoise table that we have had made for him.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has to wake my lazy little monkey up ;) hopefully he will start goin to bed on his...
My floor is clean an there are no foreign bodies for him to ingest. So there for in my eyes he is fine. I know what you are saying but I'm saying I've covered all areas to make it safe for him an like I said he is highly supervised and watched while he is out. I'm not stupid.
Anyway I didn't...
I have a 9 year old Horsfield tortiose called Arnie. I have the uvb light and basking light on a timer from about 8 am till 9 pm but Arnie doesn't come out of his hide unless he is woken up. Is this normal? He is in a tortoise table with a built in house and log hide in the house. He doesn't...
I've had my horsefield for a few weeks now. He is 9 years old. When I let him roam up and down my kitchen which is quite long and thin and the cupboards don't have kick boards on then so as you can imagine if he goes under its a nightmare. But if I spot him heading under I say Ah ah noo and he...
Glad I didn't buy it then :) some decent advice from a pet shop too haha. What would you recommend to put in his hide? Wanted something a bit different to his soil.
Just changed the sand for topsoil. Thanks for the advice! There is so much contradicting advice online!
Anyways I think he prefers the soil as he is digging it all up as I type this :)
Pictures of his enclosure not very good as dont show full length.
