New pictures of my suly. Outside temperature today 95 degrees and 70% humidity.
Humid theory is not working with my sulcata. I got her when she was 4 months old and she had space
Between scutes. Bit I thought that with humid enclosure this will end. But it still goes its own way. Side scutes are...
But I do have closed chamber with all the heating and lighting inside the enclosure. I put glass cover over it now. So I hope it will be better. Didn't know that styrofoam lets humidity out, but It does :(:(:(
It is my fault that she grows this way.
Finaly I have figured it out what is wrong with my setup that makes my tortoise pyramid.
To keep heat inside the closed chamber I have covered the top with 4 inch styrofoam. But didn't think that it breaths.
Allmost all humidity went out. I have 4 hidrometers and 2 of them show 80%, but other 2...
Some time has past an my Suly has grown. She is now 4,5 inch long and 250 grams.
But despite almost swamp like conditions (80-90%, 83-110F), she hasn't stopped pyramiding.
She only gets to eat grasses, weeds,... No store bought foods.
I was thinking of building a somewhat close chamber.
It will be 3/4 covered with acrylic with humid hide and an opening to the rest of 1/4 of pen, wich will be open. The whole pen will be put in a verry shaded place so that the temperature will not be to high in the covered part.
But as far as I...
I know summer is still a few months away, but I started thinking about outside enclosure for my juvenile sulcata.
She is allmost 4 inches long.
And as she still needs constant high humidity I was wondering how can I provide such enclosure outside, but still get UV from the sun? So that she can...
Just an update. My Sulcata IS growing smooth, with every new growth ring.
But I need to change the substrate, because this coco coir contains some sort of dye. Her skin turned all dark, and water in water dish turns brown every time she walks trough.
So what kind of bedding should I get? Coco...
My Sulcata has grown since my last post and now I am 100% sure that she grows smooth. Yey :)
And she is growing fast. I need to buy a scale to weigh her.
