Yes that could be a good explanation. Will have to see how he reacts when the weather starts to change. Whether he stays near it or goes to his den.

I have a male Hermann's tortoise which I've had for around 28 years. Not sure how old he is exactly as I guess he was at least a few years old when we got him.
Would love to get another Hermann's but not sure whether to go for a baby as I wouldn't be...
