Probably depends on the tort, but I feel like mine Tiny loves when we are all home! He is pretty active in general but even right after he eats he will come to the side of his enclosure and let me scratch his head and legs and shell and stretches his neck out when I talk to him. We handle him...
Well I mentioned this thread on his FB page in hopes he can get some more education and care more about the torts he is raising and selling instead of just looking at them as a profit margin. Poor little guy here needs to be separated and given a lot of TLC to survive hopefully we can follow his...
I am very sorry for your loss :( Would you be willing to ship? I am in Wisconsin and could possibly take one off your hands but I am not available to pick up and drive to Virginia. Did they just roam your mothers home?
I have started to always leave the enclosure closed when no one is home or at night always. I think this has now taught the cat it is not a space for him. He seems much less interested now in the enclosure and the tort! All is well on that end :)
Yes, you are right about the size. It is larger then his current enclosure so he should like the upgrade. He is currently in one of those long plastic tubs you would use to put wrapping paper in or something. It was temporary until I built something. But this will do for now. Those are some good...
I was randomly on Craigslist today and happened across this tort table! I am buying it tomorrow for 40 bucks which I think is a steal! I have been meaning to build Tiny my RT a new enclosure for a while now, but something is always coming up being the busy Summer season. Honestly, I don't know...
These guys are beautiful!!! Do you have to live some where warm and humid like FL to have them flourish and be healthy? I could never have one right this moment but would love one when time is right? Do you have to be careful about them burrowing or they are not ones that burrow?! I know I can...
Holy canoli! that is awesome and very dedicated to spending that much time. How many torts do you have? I could see myself being this dedicated to torts after my kids grow up and I retire. I would love to have more and live some where I can have Sully's without having to have a winter home for...
I see you are in Jamaica so hibiscus is probably all around you. I actually, have two hibiscus plants at my home in Wisconsin that are alive all year (moved indoors in Winter) anyhow, so that is an okay flower to give my tort for an occasional treat then? I wonder if he would like the leaves to...
I have a 6 month old cat that I caught in my torts enclosure one morning and he pooped in it! Kicked the coconut coir all around little bugger. Luckily, Tiny is not a morning tort and was sleeping in his hide. The cat isn't interested in the tort himself I think he just thought his enclosure was...
Sweet!! I will have to watch your experiment and see how it comes out. I currently use coconut oil on my Russian's shell but maybe I should try this stuff too!
