Came out of hibernation and start eating...

We had him together with another male Herrmanns hibernated together in one container and other two female hibernated in another container.

We check them weekly and we notice him, the Marginated tortoise already dig himself out of coco coil bedding and move around in the box.

so we took him out, gave him a nice warm soak, then putting him in the new enclosure I just built.

We did not feed him the first day, he start to eat the next day, eating few dandelion and one Mazuri.

He walking around the enclosure and very much alert.

My grandson also enjoy of feeding him.

My grandson is most cautious 6 years old boy you ever find. I asked him if he like to feed the Tortoise, he ask me back if Tortoise will bite?

Of cause I lie! But he still have all his fingers. Thank you for the reminder! ! !

Beautiful (handsome!) tortoise, thank you for sharing these pics. Glad to hear that the hibernation went well.

How large is he at this point? Do you know how old he is? I only ask because I'm curious how fast they grow. My 'biggest' is 230g at 15 months old. She still has a lot of growing to do, but I'm just amazed at how fast they get big!
