Could it cause infection?

So my Russian (Sandy) was digging outside the other day, and she cut one of her nails (because they are still a little overgrown) and I think it hit the quick in her nail. She was in her outdoor enclosure so I didn't see it until I brought her in for the night. It looks like there might be a little dried blood but I was wondering it it could get infected. I put some antibiotic ointment on it. Thanks fellow TFO members! (PS I'll post pics later)

Yes it could get infected. Probably won't. If it were me, I would clean it every day when you bring him in for the night and put the cream on it. Until it looks like its healing.

Ok. Well when I put the cream on the dirt sticks to it. Is that ok? And should I try a bandaid?

Most will switch to plain newspaper when treating an injury to keep the dirt out. I wouldn't use a bandage, it probably wouldn't stay on and you don't want him getting ahold of it.
