Hi,
Haven't been on the tortoise forum lately, but really need to ask the question: 'Do I need to go to the vets?'

My tortoise, Phoenix, has a claw that grows upside down almost. Sometimes I find that his claw has become stuck inside his shell and I need to gently ease it out. When this happens he doesn't move and so I am very worried as I am out most of the day. I was wondering if this problem can sort itself out or if I need to go the the vet for specialist help. If I do, will the vet have to be a reptile expert?

Sorry I can't post pics due to technical difficulties.

Thanks

Lol! Technical difficulties.

In my opinion, that nail will probably have to be pulled out (a minor surgical procedure at the vet's office).

It is probably painful to him when it gets stuck.

Thanks for the advice I'll have to get him booked in this week!
