View attachment Ajax-20131221-00190.jpgFinally went to Lowes today and picked up some lumber. The top of the table isn't going to be completed for maybe another week or two but the main structure is starting to get built. The dimensions have also been changed up a bit.

It's now 7x3 + 4x3 so basically a 7x7 box with a 4x4 corner cut out (if that makes any sense?).

Right now the dimensions of the wood aren't important so I won't confuse anyone but I'll be updating this thread multiple times (with a LOT of pics) over the course of the next few days.

Sorry for the lack of updates. There was a terrible freezing rain storm where I live and the power has been out the past 2 days. Sadly it's still down and this is the first time I have internet (typing from a friends house). I've attached some photos from my phone if anyone's curious as to just how bad it was (a tree 2 houses down snapped in half) and I have some unwanted backyard renovations. I've also had no heat or hot water and wasn't able to use power tools.

However, I did almost finish the table frame (using the most advanced tools: Hammer, nails) and will be uploading photo's tomorrow or the day after, depending on whether or not I'll be able to get electricity. Stay tuned everyone, sorry for the delay.View attachment Ajax-20131222-00198.jpgView attachment Ajax-20131222-00199.jpgView attachment Ajax-20131222-00200.jpgView attachment Ajax-20131222-00201.jpgView attachment IMG-20131222-00192.jpgView attachment IMG-20131222-00193.jpgView attachment IMG-20131222-00194.jpgView attachment Pickering-20131222-00195.jpgView attachment Pickering-20131222-00197.jpg

Most of these people don't know what it's like keeping torts in this climate (freezing).they would never understand finding a black mountain tort in your bed (after crawling around on the floor)because the only spot you had left was the night stand to soak the tort on....hope all goes well ,can't wait to see your craftsmanship with those state of the art tools,,....love

Oh, what are you putting in that enclosure, penguins .?.....

I've been watching the weather across the U.S. on the news. Terrible stuff, ice. Power lines down, trees breaking and falling. I'm so thankful for our drought here in the Central Valley of California.

Love your enthusiasm. Projects like these are fun. When overcoming obstacles (especially weather related) to get them finished they are even more rewarding. Looking forward to photos of the completed work.

And, like Yvonne, it's nice to be in a warm climate and not have ice storms to contend with. I grew up in Illinois and have plenty of experiences with ice, snow, and coooold weather.
